Lake St Clair Fly Fishing Guide Service
With Captain Steve Kunnath
Captain Steve Kunnath has been fishing Lake St Clair most of his life. He is the areas only full
time fly fishing guide and spends over 150 days a year on the lake. Steve is certified and
licensed as a charter captain by the USCG, inspected by the Michigan DNR, and is fully insured.
He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience  from pike fishing near the arctic circle too
fishing for tarpon on the saltwater flats of Florida. He has also lived for 3 years in the fly fishing
mecca of Bozeman Montana where he worked for Simms Fishing Products. Steve returned to
his native Michigan since he believes the fishing is much better here because Michigan offers so
many diverse fishing opportunities. Where else in the world can you fish for trophy musky, trout,
bass, carp, pike, salmon, and steelhead in the same area? He was also with the Flymart
Flyshop guide service and shop employee for six years as well as the Flymart’s chief fly fishing
instructor. He works year round in the fly fishing industry pursuing his dreams and passions.
Steve is a member of the Michigan Outdoor Writers Association and contributes many fly fishing
articles a year sharing his professional techniques and information. His true love and passion for
Lake St Clair shows through in the dedication and quality experience he offers through his Lake
St Clair guide service.  Each year he also does guest speaker appearances at outdoor shows,
TU/fly fishing clubs etc covering information on Fly Fishing Lake St Clair.
